We have owned our home for a week now and of course we are discussing ways to decorate our house to make it our own. Since JJ nor I really have any interior decorating knowledge I have turned to InvitingHome.com for some inspiration. I really like this website because the ideas are things I would actually do, unlike the magazines we looked at from the library where those magazines are focused on very eccentric ideas or designs that would only fit a millionaires budget.
JJ wants our first project to be new kitchen cabinets. I think overall our home looks very modern for a house that was built in the 1930′s except for those kitchen cabinets which were probably built in the 30′s as well. As you can see from the picture on the left there is not a whole lot of counter space. I like a lot of counter space because I make a lot of our meals from scratch. InvitingHome.com gives a lot of great ideas for updating your kitchen to fit your lifestyle.
A kitchen makeover sounds like it would be expensive so I would like to start off with something more in our affordability range. Painting the walls. All of our walls are white and I would love to bring a feeling of warmth and expression into our home and I feel that the best way to do this through colour. JJ and I both love the idea of having crown molding in the center of the wall and two different colours on either side like the picture on the right from InvitingHome.com. The website has a really beautiful selection of crown molding that you buy from them including environmentally friendly moldings.
I am excited to decorate now but we probably wont do anything until the new year. I am going to subscibe to this blog to recieve some inspiration before we start our projects.
