Thoughts On Women’s Conference

Saturday evening I went to the General Relief Society Meeting which is a women’s conference for women 18 and older all over the world.

Before the conference began we had some ice cream and we also participated in a service project which was putting together humanitarian aid kits to give to people in times of natural disasters. With the coming hurricanes in the North Eastern United States and the Maritime Provinces of Canada these kits may be distributed very soon. The kits had hand towels, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other toiletries. I guess you could say they could be considered toiletry gift baskets except they were in Ziploc bags but a very welcomed gift for the recipients, nonetheless.

The conference was wonderful with talks on the importance of women taking care of each other and my favourite was a talk by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf who spoke about dealing with feelings of inadequacies. I think that is something just about all women deal with. Many times I feel like I need to be a perfect mother, wife, housekeeper, cook and I often feel that I am not doing enough to help earn money for my family. I know I can continue to improve my self in these areas without telling myself I’m not good enough.
