The newest NBC reality show debuted last night, The Baby Borrowers features 5 teenage couples (at least the girls) who *think* they can handle having a baby. The couples will take care of a baby for 3 days, then take care of toddlers, children, pre-teens and even elderly people. All while living in a gorgeous home and not *really* having to deal with the actual financial stress that most young families need to deal with.
Obviously I don’t think this show will be a total reality check for the teens and of course that would be impossible to do but if this show does come back next season (I don’t think it will) the producers should have the teens live in a not so nice home and be given a limited amount of money where they will need to carefully budget their expenses.
It will be interesting to see how the teens do though. I am sure the boys will be the first to admit they are not ready to give up their xbox 360’s in exchange for providing for a family.

Darn it.. I knew I was going to miss something I’ve been dying to see… I was thinking it was going to be semi-funny.. but yeah, probably not the dramatic reality check they hoped it would be…

It’s sad that parenting has now become a reality show when it isn’t even a reality show since…that’s not reality.

aw I hate reality shows like this! I mean it’s totally NOT REALITY. People are just using this as a stepping stone for an acting career… hummphh when will this reality show craze stop?
however, I do agree with you that they should be given a limited amount of money and in an unfavorable home…

I really enjoyed watching this show on some public channel. Can’t for the life of me remember the name, but entire families would go and live in a house with no heat, etc, they had to live and behave as if they were in older times. I mean even the women could not use current femine hygiene products, they had to use what was used back in the day. It was really a fascinating show. Then they had another where it wasn’t just the one family but they had an entire community doing it.
