Political Candiadates On Why The Chicken Crossed The Road

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I came across this on Courant.com, I thought it was funny and thought maybe some of my readers would enjoy this.

Barack Obama: The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a change. The chicken wanted change.

John McCain: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

Hillary Clinton: When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure, right from Day 1, that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn’t about me.

Let The House Hunting Begin

Friday, May 30th, 2008

We are currently living in male student housing where they open up some of the apartments to families over the summer. The rent is super cheap and we figured it would be a great way to save money and find a place that we really like, ideally find a home to own!

Last week we spoke with a realtor to help us find a place within our budget and he told us that we would need to be preapproved for a mortgage before we could start shopping for a home. Yesterday we were approved for $130,000 (which we decided would be our maximum purchase price). The lender told us that we were easily approved because both my husband and I have high credit scores.

I am so excited to start shopping around for a home!

How Fixing The Dishwasher Turned Into A Big Mess

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

The apartment management sent a repairman over to our apartment yesterday to fix the air conditioner and dishwasher. I was happy to save some time by loading all the dishes into the dishwasher than having to do the dishes by hand. However a few hours later the couple who live in the apartment below us knocked on our door and said that they had come home to find that a lot of water had leaked down from our apartment into their apartment around the area where our dishwasher is! I think I’ll just stick to doing the dishes by hand even if it does get “fixed” again. I don’t want to cause someone else to suffer the consequence from our dishwasher again.

As American As Apple Pie

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I like to make a special treat on holidays, last night I decided to make Apple Pie for memorial day. I made a graham cracker crust, then poured the apple pie filling I made at a church activity over the crust and then topped it off with a cinniamon frosting I created using shortening, icing sugar and cinnamon. It was yummy!

It was raining yesterday so my husband and I mostly spent the day at home relaxing with our girls. We also went to walmart to buy some bananas. We were wanting to buy some dishes since the only dishes we have are a few plastic bowls but husband thought that $1.50 for a plate was too expensive … we will probably end up buying those plates when he realizes that the only place cheaper is the dollar tree and says that the dishes there were ugly.

Some good news is that my husband got a job today! He will be working a gas station for the summer and he will also be volunteering at BYU to do Research at one of the Bio-Chemistry labs.

McCain’s Choice For VP

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

There are many rumours about who will be Republican nominee John McCain’s VP. McCain has confirmed that he has a list of 20 possible VP’s and he has invited a group of ‘conservative’ politicians to his Arizona cabin this weekend which has led people to assume that these are the people on his short list of possible candidates.

I personally think that McCain needs to choose a very conservative VP as McCain himself is not looked upon as conservative by many republican voters. I would like to see him choose Mitt Romney while my husband thinks that he should choose current governor Bobby Jindal.

Who do you think McCain should choose?

What Apartment Doesn’t Wash The Carpets Before You Move In!?

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

I talked to my apartment manager about how dirty our apartment was when we moved in, she seemed very apologetic about it. The manager does seem very nice but a little disorganized, she doesn’t know what happened to the maitnance form we filled out last saturday to repair our air conditioner and dishwasher. I filled another one out so hopefully they will be fixed before the weather starts to get hot again.

Before I left I asked if the carpets were cleaned before we moved in and she said that it wasn’t so yesterday we had to move all the furniture into the kitchen and two teenage girls came by with their steam cleaners to clean the floors in all the apartments. First of all they just cleaned the living room then left so I went outside and asked them if they were going to clean the bedroom floors, their reply was “It’s what you want”(what kind of reply is that?), I just said “sure, I would like the bedrooms floor cleaned as well” (of course I do! I have two babies crawling all over the floors!)

Hopefully the apartment management and us just got off to a bad start and the next 3 months go well.

The American Idol Finale

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

It is raining here in Utah to mourn David Archuleta loosing the American Idol title. Really, everyone here are so happy for both David’s. They both seem like genuinely nice guys. While David Archuleta was second favourite contestant (Brooke White was my first!) I hope David Cook has a great career and he continues to bring about awareness of Brain Cancer (which his brother suffers from).

I was surprised that my husband was upset when they announced that David Cook was the winner, he says he’s not watching American Idol with me next season. Ha ha ha…

I am looking forward to Brooke and David Archuleta cutting records.

Trying To Think Of A Father’s Day Gift

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Next month on fathers day men all over the world will be waking up to new golf bags, ties and pictures drawn by their children.

I still have no idea what I am going to do for my husband. I would like to do something involving the children. Two years ago I tried making a clay ornament with Sariah’s footprint pressed into it but that did not turn out.

I remember making coupon books for my dad when I was little and he still has the paperclip holder I made for him when I eight. Sariah would have a lot of fun making something for daddy, I’ll have to find something age appropriate for a 2 year old. Any ideas?

The Top Two Perform On American Idol

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Tonight’s theme was a boxing duel which I thought was kind of lame but I still enjoyed the show. During the beginning of the show David Cook said that he was going out tonight to have fun while David Archuleta said he was going to give it his all and that is pretty much happened. David Cook did well but he wasn’t at his best while David Archuleta’s performances showed that he wants to win this competition. He deserves it and I hope ‘little David’ wins it!

During my first few days living in Utah I have noticed how huge David Archuleta is here. They play his American Idol studio performances on the radio and every 10 minutes they are telling people to vote for him. I am trying to vote for him but the phone lines are busy each time.

We will see what happens tomorrow night!

Take A Step Back In Time

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

wayneon_yelgrn_tn.jpgSave your money on those sunglasses that cost hundreds of dollars and be bold this summer with vintage sunglasses! Priced between $8 - $30 these sunglasses are easy on the wallet.

Of course I had to choose the funkiest picture I could find on giantvintage.com but whatever your style you will probably find something you like and bring back the styles of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. I can’t believe the 90’s are considered vintage now - makes me feel old and I am only 25!
