Thanks to payu2blog.com and bedinabox.com I have won a Memory Foam Mattress! Remember this video? That was for a contest that was opened to payu2blog members put on by bedinabox.com. Here is a list of the other winners, there are 4 more to be announced.
All the mattresses we have had during our 3 years of marriage are ones we have bought at thrift stores. I am so excited about owning a comfortable mattress and I can’t wait to post a review on this blog about the mattress.

I watched CNN’s Reagan Library Debate and decided to post my views on the debate here. I will talk about each candidate in the order of who I thought did the best during the debate.
Mike Huckabee- Governor Huckabee in my opinion was the big winner of this debate. He knew when to make a joke and his ideas were very well said, each answer he gave was almost like a sermon. Huckabee is a man of great moral standards which I believe is an important characteristic when choosing a president. However I don’t think he is the best choice for president, he does seem like a very gentle man and a president can’t be soft with everyone.
Mitt Romney- Governer Romney was no doubt the most entertaining of all the candidates. I really think McCain needed to be chewed out on national television for what he said about Romney during the campaigning in Florida. However Romney attacking McCain did take away from what the debate was supposed to be - a debate of ideas. Romney is also a man of great moral standards but he can also be fierce. I believe that of all the republican candidates Romney would make the best president. I actually think Romney and Huckabee would make a good team. If McCain ends up with the most delegates I hope those two will put their delegates together and go for President and Vice President.
Ron Paul - For some reason the panel did not allow Ron Paul much time to speak. I thought that the little bit he said was very intelligent. He chastised the other candidates and reminded everyone that the purpose of the debate was to debate ideas not issues.
John McCain- If McCain wins the most delegates in California it wont be because of his performance during the debate. He looked embarrassed and guilty during the debate (thanks to Romney). He will never admit it but he knows that what he did was deceitful. Imagine if the election comes down to Hillary Clinton and John McCain, the campaign on both sides would be full of lies!

My roof is still leaking but at least it didn’t catch fire like the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas did.
The hotel is still closed and it is unknown when it will reopen. The building is still being inspected to find out the extent of the damage that the fire caused and what exactly caused the fire. As with many hotels in Las Vegas the Monte Carlo hotel also ran a casino in the building. There was no damage to the Casino area. Luckily no one was seriously injured. About 17 people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries caused by inhaling smoke and fleeing from the fire.

This past weekend my husband and I became Costco members. After our first Costco shopping experience we knew that we made the right decision to buy a membership.
Costco is known for its bulk savings and if you want to save big you really do need to go for the bulk. For example if you buy Costco’s case of namebrand canned vegetables you will end up being the same price as if you bought the same amount of Best Value ”walmart brand” canned vegetables. However if you buy the large 6 lb can you will save a lot of money. Of course if you don’t have 20 kids you will need storage to save the leftovers. We bought Ziploc bags to freeze the leftovers.
Other big money savers we noticed were their big bags of rice and oatmeal. The fresh produce is also by far cheaper than what you will get at a typical grocery store.
To top off our great experience we were also fed well on Costco’s many food sample offers that we didn’t even need to eat lunch!

I played the Candidate Match Game on USAtoday.com. According to this game the Candidates who most closely share my political views are:
- Mitt Romney
- Fred Thompson
- Tom Tancredo
It was a fun quiz eventhough I can’t vote in the USA since I am a Canadian citizen. I do hope Mitt Romney wins the republican nomination though. I don’t like John McCain’s view on providing citizenship for illegal immigrants it would be very unfair for people who immigrate to the USA legally. Even I have had to go through a very long, expensive process just to obtain a residency status.

Last night when I heard of the passing of President Gordon B. Hinkley I was saddened by the news. He has been the Leader of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints since I was 12 years old. I have always enjoyed his optimism of the youth of the church and his wonderful counsel he has given on marriage that has helped me strengthen my own marriage. President Hinkley and his wife (who passed away almost 4 years ago) were wonderful examples of what a happy marriage was. I remember many years ago President Hinkley spoke of the love that he and his wife had for eachother and said that they hoped that when one passed the other would soon follow. I know that he must be overjoyed to once again be reunited with his wife.
President Hinkley was 97 years old at the time of his passing. Even at this age he was full of vigor and a love of learning.

My husband and I have lived in 6 different apartments in 3 different cities during our 3 year marriage. I would have to say that only one of the apartment management was good, the one we lived in while my husband did an internship in Boise, Idaho.
The place we live in now took 2 weeks to fix a leaking roof! I called them all the time to ask when it was going to be fixed and I had them tell me that some one was being sent over each time. Well yesterday the bucket I had set out to catch the water got moved and my daughter slipped on the water. After comforting her I got on the phone and called the apartment management again and told them what happened. What would you know, the roof was fixed a few hours later.

Anyone who has people who depend on them for financial support should consider purchasing life insurance. There are some reasons why a single person with no children would want life insurance such as if they are caring for aging parents or even if they have excesive debt that they would not want to pass onto their family members should they pass away.
Even with the knowledge of the importance of life insurance we do not have any (we have to work on getting health insurance first. I guess it would not hurt to find out what a life insurance quote would be for us.

The first day that I had a chance to walk around the town in Sequim, WA I found the people very friendly. I had business offer me maps and local magazines to help me get accustomed to the area. I also had a few invites to join one of their many wine of the month clubs, I don’t drink so I politely declined. I however have found my place in the community with other stay at home moms. Many people think of Sequim as a retirement place but there really is a lot for young families to do. After my husband starts getting some pay cheques I would like to check out their Rec Center, I hope they have ice skating, I haven’t been ice skating in so long.
