Makeup That Is Good For Your Skin

Friday, February 29th, 2008

powder-main.jpgI know several people who wear a lot of makeup and it has noticeable taken a toll on their skin. The new trend in the makeup industry is Mineral Makeup which is actually very good for your skin. Mineral makeup has been around since the 70’s but up until recently it was only sold on infomercials and was only affordable to a small percentage of Women. Now that more women have learned about the natural anti-inflammatory elements and UV protection of mineral makeup; many companies within the makeup industry have tapped into this market making it more competitive. If you would like to try the new makeup Craze you can receive some mineral makeup samples. 10 samples costs $4.99.

The Evolving Of Backgammon

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Backgammon is one of the oldest board games, appearing in France during the 11th century. People then began to use backgammon as a means to gamble which lead King Louis IX to ban his court officials and subjects from playing backgammon. Games similar to backgammon were played among the ancient Egyptians as well as the ancient Romans.

Today backgammon is a common game in the casinos as well as a family board game that children as young as 5 can play. My dad taught me to play backgammon when I was a kid, I remember much he enjoyed taking out his backgammon set and teaching my sister, brother and I how to play. I don’t think he has the backgammon game anymore since I have not seen him play it in a long time.

You no longer need a backgammon set to play backgammon games or even a playing partner because now backgammon has evolved to online backgammon that people of all levels of expertise can enjoy playing.

One popular website to play online backgammon is 1on1backgammon.com they allow you to play with other people online who are at your own skill level and they also have tools to help you improve your backgammon skills. Some people use this site to help them prepare for backgammon tournaments!

New Baby Traditions.

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

One of my favourite traditions are those involving new babies.

Before our daughters were born I crocheted them each a blanket, my mother-in-law sewed them a quilt and my twin sister made them a family tree with all the names of their ancestors on it.

While we were at a friends house before our first daughter was born, this friend showed us a bassinett he made for his baby. My husband then announced that he was going to make something for his baby with his tool box. I don’t think you can make a bassinett with a screwdriver and hammer, I think you would need some power tools such as festool.

He then decided to buy the kids a stuffed animal after they were born. Maybe someday he will get his power tools and he can make something for the kids when they move out of our house.

Blanket Traditions

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

It seems that a lot of traditions for new babies are “blanket traditions”. I have a tradition where I am going to crochet a blanket for each of my children and my mother in law has made a quilt for each of her children and makes one for each grandchild. They really are cute, I am so worried about loosing my daughter’s blanket that her grandma made that I never let it leave the house.

My sister and I recieved an animal print bedding that had a huge cat on the quilt when we were born from my uncle’s girlfriend at the time. I ended up losing mine but eventhough it seems like my twin sister takes her’s on all her trips and sleeps with it every night, she has never lost hers.

Fine Art

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

One of the things my husband and I enjoy doing is going to museums and art galleries and looking at fine art. My husband took an Art History class while he was in college so he has taught me a bit about different types art and to focus more on the meanings behind the paintings.

One of the biggest collections of fine art in North America is at the Park West Art Gallery which features over 15 artists including Jean-Claude Picot and Thomas Kinkade. They even have an affilate company of theirs who conducts art auctions on cruise ships, that would be a fun cruise to be on!

Bonsai Plants

Friday, May 4th, 2007

The university my husband is going to right now sells plants every friday and I always find myself looking at the bonsai plants. They are quite expensive, though. Here is an article that explains how you can find bonsai plants cheaper.

I think bonsai plants are beatiful and would make a fun hobby. Each bonsai plant is unique and the plant owners can change the look of them. Just like hobbies such as yoga and crocheting relieve stress, many people are turning to bonsai plants as a way to relieve stress.

The Bonsai Gardener website has a ton of information on bonsais for beginners to experts including a downloadable book and free newsletter.
