One of the wonderful things about blogging is that we are able to keep connected to our family and friends. Blogging has also given me the opportunity to meet other bloggers around the world such as Angeline from Singapore who has given me this friendship award.
Angeline is currently the top commentator on this blog which shows what a wonderful blogging friend she is! I would like to pass this award onto the rest my top 10 commentators: Sara-Jayne, Kara, Esme, Marie, Karen, Beth, Amber, Lynne and Kristina.
Thank you for all your comments!

When someone comments on this blog for the first time I have to manually approve of it because I don’t want a bunch of spam on my blog. A couple months ago I accidently deleted some new commenters comments and I did the same thing today! I think I am clicking on ‘Approve’ but I don’t realize until it is too late that I clicked on ‘Mark As Spam’. Maybe if I had a viewsonic monitor I could see the two buttons clearer or maybe I just need to clean my glasses!
If I did delete your comment please don’t stop commenting I love to read all of your comments.

I used to have my blogs on blogger, a year and half ago I decided that I wanted to own my blogs so I searched for a web host. I had an awful experience with my first web host (1&1) I lost all my posts a few times. I switched to Hostmonster, I have been really happy with their features and service over the last year.
I regret not doing my homework on finding a good web host - Don’t make the same mistake as I did go to www.WebHostingGeeks.com first and take a look at the 10 web hosting companies. Read what others have to say about the web hosts so you can get a good idea of that companies strenghts and weeknesses. Learn about the best budget host or best blog host. Find the web host that fits your needs the best!

Have any of you signed up for SocialSpark? What do you think about it? I joined when it first launched to select people a few months ago, now it is open to everyone and I am writing this post for SocialSpark to help share with them and others what I like and don’t like about this new blogging social network site.
It is just okay if you want to use it mainly for for paid blogging opportunities. In my opinion there are two ways that SocialSpark could improve in this area. First of all bloggers need to make a minimum of $20 before cashing out and I haven’t been able to make $20 yet because of my second reason. Second, I like how bloggers have 12 hours after they are given an assignment to complete it but for every assignment except two of them I have been given the assignment at midnight eastern time which means I would need to find out I have recieved the assignment and complete it by 10 am my time. I usually do not go online in the mornings!
However if you are looking for a social site to network with other bloggers and recieve ideas for topics to blog about during those ‘writers block’ times. Then this is a great site. You can add people as friends, prop (or drop) them. One thing I like is that I can find out on average how many people visit my site each day and how I rank compared to the other bloggers. To get an idea of what a SocialSpark profile looks like here is a screen shot of mine:

I recieve a ton of spam comments on my recipe blog, there have been many times I have logged on to the site administration to find over 1,000 spam comments which are mostly related to diet pills. I really don’t want to waste my time reading that “Fenphedra can help you loose 30 lbs in 30 days” 100 times. I uploaded a captcha plugin onto the site which helped just a little bit so I got rid of that plugin and found another plugin where commentators just need to answer a simple math question. I still get around 100 spam comments a week which is a whole lot better than 1000 but I wish I could find something that could totally stop the spam.

Being a stay at home mom has been the most rewarding job I have had. Soon after my first daughter was born we were having a hard time paying our bills especially the medical bills for my maternity care and Sariah’s birth so I decided that I would work part time in the evenings and the money I made would go to paying our medical bills. I took a job at a call center conducting market research surveys and I hated the fact that I annoyed people with asking them to help me with these really boring surveys. I also hated that my husband would work and go to school during the day and most of the evening, then I would go to work at night 3 times a week so we weren’t able to spend a lot of time together.
A few months later I learned that I could write posts about interesting products and services on my blog and get paid for it! I began going to the library during the days and while my daughter slept in her stroller or played with a book or toys I would blog for an hour. I soon realized that I made more money blogging each month than I did working at this very boring job for 6 hours each week. I gladly quit that job!
I was also able to convince my husband to let us purchase internet service when he learned that I was able to make money blogging. Now I just put a movie on for my daughters, have them play in their room, or put them down for a nap while mommy does a little blogging.

When I first started this blog in December of 2006 one of my goals was to reach a google page rank of at least a 3. I researched how to gain a higher page rank and I worked hard at writing posts with good content and aquiring links to my blog. I was so happy when I learned just a few months later that this blog was given a page rank of 3 which helped me to be able to write more posts that I would get paid for.
Several months ago, as many paid bloggers know, Google took away the page ranks of most bloggers who were involved with writing sponsored posts. I was sad about this because the money I make blogging really makes a difference to my family’s financial situation as my husband is still a student and I thought that my days of being able to be paid to write blog posts would soon be over.
In our wonderful free market world, things always evolve and the people over at Izea realized that google should not be the only ones to dictate a blog’s rank in the blogosphere. Izea worked hard to develop a Real Rank which ranks blogs based on traffic, influence and links.
I believe that the Real Rank is a lot more accurate than the google page rank as some blogs have hardly any content and have a higher page rank than other blogs that are a lot more influential. Find out your Real Rank at IzeaRanks.com! Mine seems to fall anywhere from top 30% to 60% depending on my traffic for that week.

Last month I blogged about buzzfuse, a new blog marketing service. As promised, I am giving an update on how the service has worked out for me.
Compared to blog rush which is another service I have used, I like buzzfuse a lot more, It has brought more traffic to my blog than blog rush and Buzzfuse.com has also been a great way for me to find interesting articles written by others and share my blog posts with people in my ‘circle’.
With a paid premium membership you are eligible to earn money with buzzfuse. March’s earnings pool is $3,500 which will be split up between the top 100 items (blog post, music, video or photo). You can recieve a FREE premium membership If you are one of the first 1000 people to register 2 items and have over 30 people in your ‘circle’. Let me know if you would like me to join your circle or if you would like to joing mine.

No matter how wonderful your content is you can’t just blog and expect a large audience to read your blog. You need to market your blog.
I signed up with Buzzfuse for free this morning upon discovering that many bloggers are having a lot of success with them
. I posted one of my recent blog articles to see what it was like and I think I will really enjoy this new service. People can rate your articles so you can have a good idea of what people thought of it. Another neat feature is that you can create a questionare to go with your post. One of the best features in my opinion is that Buzzfuse automatically submits your post to major social networks.
Before you post a picture, blog article, video or song you will need to invite 10 people to be part of “your circle”.
You can also have the opportunity to get paid for your great posts if you become a premium member which costs $14.99/month or $149.99/year.
I will write an update on Buzzfuse after I have used it for a few weeks to let all of you know more about how it works.
