Update on our 5 Children
So between June 2nd and July 19th all of our children are 2 years apart according to age. I thought this point would be a good time to give my readers a little update on them, including 2013 pictures taken by my sister-in-law who runs Symone Misao Photography
Sariah has completed about 35% of 2nd grade. Her favourite subjects are Science and History. She wants to be a scientist when she grows up (just like daddy). Right now she is learning about Machines, the early Christian church in Rome, measurements and writing addresses. In May she tested in at a 5th grade reading level!
As you might be able to tell from the picture Sariah has seasonal allergies. She only had problems in the spring though, she has been fine all summer. So she can enjoy the outdoors playing in the yard with her siblings and swimming at Seven Peaks.
Well she’s not 5 for long. In less than 2 weeks she will be six! Bekah recently lost her two bottom teeth. There are no gaps because her permanent teeth came in before the baby teeth fell out. She also had a frenectomy a few months ago so when her top permanent teeth grow in she won’t have a large gap between them.
Rebekah has completed about 30% of 1st grade. Her favourite subjects are Math and History. Rebekah is adding double digit numbers, learning about ancient Egypt, compound words and sentence structure. Rebekah is at a 1st grade reading level so right where she should be.
Rebekah has a good imagination and is usually the one leading creative projects such as building an ant house outside with a road that leads to a beach. She was pretty excited when she actually saw ants walking along the road to “the beach”.
At 7lbs 14 oz Miriam was my biggest baby at birth, however she is the smallest 3 year old. She is 35 inches and 25 lbs so 3rd% for height and 1.5% for weight (same height as Sariah was but Sariah was a chubby toddler). Ever since Miriam was a few months old she had always been at the 3rd% for height and weight the recent drop in weight was caused by her being sick for about 6 weeks. She is totally fine now and after 4 vials of blood, urine and stool samples the doctors don’t know what was wrong. Hopefully now that she is better her weight gain will go up in the mean time we are supposed to feed her lots of healthy fats. She will have a check up in 3 months so we’ll see if that helps.
Miriam is so lovable and is usually the first to show concern if someone is upset. Miriam is currently learning letter sounds to prepare to learn how to read!
While Joshua loves baby dolls and ponies there really is something different about having a boy, it is difficult to describe. I’m not just talking about energy levels because my girls have plenty of that!
Johsua is 23 lbs and 29 inches. So about 3rd% for height and 15% for weight.
Joshua is speaking more and more each week. Some of his most used words are: more, milk, no, me, mine, pup-pup (puppy which means just about every animal),hi, bye-bye and Bekah. He calls all of his sisters Bekah, I guess it’s just the easiest name to say. His newest word is baby. He points to my belly and says baby. So cute!
So our new little baby is due November 23rd. We have decided to wait until the birth to learn if baby’s a boy or a girl. I am excited for the surprise. Pregnancy is going well. I have been walking about 2 miles each day. I walked a lot when I was pregnant with Bekah and she was by far the easiest delivery so I am hoping it helps this time around because Joshua’s labour and delivery was the worst. The active labour lasted 15 hours and about 2 of those hours was spent pushing.
