Family Looses Two Children To Pesticides

It seems like almost every week I read a local story in the newspaper or online that makes me sad. Especially stories like Susan Powell going missing and the numerous babies who die from shaken baby syndrome. Most recently I have been following the story about a family from Layton whose 4 year daughter Rebecca died from pesticides placed by Bugman Pest and Lawn. I was praying that her little sister Rachel who was in the hospital from exposure to these pesticides would survive but sadly I learned that today she also passed away.
What amazes me is that the the parents say that they do not feel anger towards the pest control company and do not plan to sue them. I don’t know what will happen in the future but the parents do seem to be forgiving, Christ-like people. If they do choose to sue then they have every reason to as the pest control people did not follow the proper requirements for placing the pesticide.
Many parents just want to do what they feel is best for their family and even taking extra precautions bad things happen.
I don’t remember how old I was at the time but many years ago my family had a flea and ant infestation so my parents had an exterminator come and spray the house. The exterminator said that the family just had to be out of the house for I think 6-8 hours. My dad decided to stay out all day just to be on the safe side. We left soon before the pesticide company was to arrive in the morning and came home very late at night. Well that night most of us became ill. I was throwing up all night and ended up falling a sleep by an open window.
We often trust what doctors tell us about prescriptions or fat loss pills or even using cleaning supplies without thinking about how the chemicals may affect us. My husband works with chemicals every day and even though I know he takes all the necessary precautions needed I still worry about him.
