The Motel 6 that is very close to the Portland Oregon Temple is clean and reasonably priced…or at least it was a few years ago when we were there.

Something that we have done when we go home, we get dollar store toys or items or activites, wrap them up in wrapping paper. Rachel will unwrap one and play with it for a while. When she gets older we will have a map and circle the places for when she gets to open another present. We have done this once, and during a 10 hour car drive, I bought 5 gifts, and she only opened three. But she’s also really good in the car. Also, you can always check priceline.com for prices on hotels, to get a cheaper price. It works great in big cities. for example you could try to get a four star hotel and put in your price for like $30 and if they take it, then you can get a good deal.
