Today’s Shopping Trip – Great Deals On Fruits And Veggies!

I was really bad about posting my grocery deals last week so instead of catching up I am just going to start over. We had some money left over in our $150 budget from last month so before the grocery trip today we had $165.84 left in the budget!!!
First I went to Albertson’s this morning. They have a sale where if you buy 10 items from their ‘Epic Savings” sale you get $5 off.
I bought 6 boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, 2 18oz bottles of Kraft dressing, 2 8oz blocks of Tillamook cheese.
Retails: $23.69
Sales – $15.14
Sunday paper coupons – $3.00
Store double Coupons – $2.00
Total I paid: $3.55 plus I received a $2 off coupon to use within 2 weeks!
Next I went to Buy Lows. If you want to be able to actually move around the store on Wednesdays go early in the morning! Also if you use WIC and you live in Utah County use your new fruits and vegetable vouchers at this store, you can get a lot for $6!
I bought 2 lbs apples, 2 lbs purple grapes, 1 cantaloupe, 3 lbs peaches (these are local utah peaches and so good!), 1 lb Roma tomatoes, 4 lbs ground beef, 2 lbs Broccoli, 1 bunch green onions, 4 green bell peppers, 0.5 lbs jalapeno peppers, 1 bunch of cilantro (yes, I am making salsa), 1.5 lbs plums and 1 tub of margarine.
Voucher – $5.40
Total I paid $8.90
Money left for the month $153.39

Seriously Melissa where do you get these coupons!! Greg and I end up spending much more on groceries than we want to. Any suggestions or information as to where you get the coupons would help greatly! Thanks!

I get most of my coupons from the Sunday paper and others from mailing lists I sign up with such as Kraft and General Mills. Go to pinchingyourpennies.com to learn about great deals in your area and save the coupons for when you find really good sales on the products. I only use a fraction of the coupons I get but I save so much money combining the coupons with sales.

Melissa,
This is random, but have you ever heard of baby wise? They’re great parenting techniques that put the parents at the center of the family rather than children (unlike in attachment parenting philosophy). I really think you’d be interested. Check them out at your library.
Baby wise also brakes down why attachemnt parenting can and will create terrible habits for children.
Anyway- just a thought. I’m not disrespecting your ways, just thought I’d give you an idea for something better.

I haven’t heard of the book but I’m always open to learning new things. I think Attachment parenting and child led parenting are two different philosophies. JJ and I are firm with our rules we just try to be gentle with discipline, and I like the child led weaning, baby wearing, cloth diapering and being a part of my child’s education aspect of AP. My kids are so well behaved and independent. They go to nursery on their own and are great being left with babysitters.

yeah, I thought that was a funny statement to make as well. Whats “better” for one person isn’t necessarily better for another.
