Home From The Hospital

We came home from the hospital yesterday evening. Rebekah seems to miss all the attention she got from the nurses as when the home health nurse came over last night she became really excited. She ran up to the nurse and said “hi nurse” and showed the nurse all her owies which is what she kept doing at the hospital and of course all the nurses gave her a lot of attention. In addition to the word ‘nurse’ she also learned the word ‘wire’ at the hospital (IV wire). All the nurses were surprised that she was only 20 months when the learned how well she speaks. When the nurses would put the blood pressure cuff on Bekah’s leg she would hold her legs up and “right boot, left boot” and then clap her feet together saying “beet, beet, beet” the got that from the Dr. Suess book about Feet. I think it is cute how she pronunces ‘f’ words with the ‘b’ sound!
As you can see from the picture above, Rebekah got a big pink bunny from the hospital. A volunteer also brought her dog into Bekah’s room which got Bekah so excited as she loves dogs.
We aren’t sure when she will be getting surgery yet. We will find out during her appointment on the 15th when the surgeon checks to see how much the infection has been reduced if it has the surgery will probably take place around the middle of May. She should be off the IV meds on the 15th as well. She needs to get the meds 3 times a day and I really don’t like that she has to go through that and it is hard concentrating on giving all the doses and keeping Bekah still and Sariah occupied. It really is a two person job.

I am so glad she is ok and is home. They have to wait til the infection goes away until they remove her appendix?

Yes, they want the infection to go away because it is all contained behind her appendix and if they remove it, the infection will spread to other areas of her abdomen.

Poor baby! I wish I could be there with you. Middle of May seems kind of far for a surgery like that. Maybe the RS pres. can send up a sign up sheet around the ward for people to come over and help you each day.
Thats a cute bunny.

I just need someone for thursday and tuesday since JJ has a break during the afternoons the other days. Someone in the ward is coming over tomorrow so I don’t have to worry about that anymore and I did all the injections myself today and Rebekah was actually really good with JJ holding her.

Thanks Shauna. We are doing better with the juggling now. Getting Sariah to bed before we do the meds and in the afternoon having her go play with a friend or watch a movie.

Not getting any news of her over here was really worrying over the past few days… I’m glad she is back in time for Easter. *smile*
