Last week we used our Promo Code to Rent: The Celine Dion Story
I am from Canada and my mom is probably one of Celine Dion’s biggest fans so I grew up listening to a lot of Celine Dion’s music. One of the main reasons I picked this movie, though was because the girl who plays the young Celine Dion – Jodelle Ferland - goes to church with my parents and little sisters.
The movie was ok but I think someone who doesn’t know Celine Dion’s background would be a little confused by the movie. In my opinion the movie would have better if they had Celine Dion at least singing in French or telling her story of her struggle as she learned English to show that her only singing in french is why her market was so small and shortly after she learned English (during the late 80s) is when her stardom really began.
The movie does go into detail about Celine Dion and Rene Angelil’s relationship and how they were worried about publisizing it as Rene is 26 years older than Celine. My dad’s parents are about 20 years apart but I still find that big of an age difference a little weird especially since Rene has children Celine’s age.
The Celine Dion Story is a made for TV movie which is obvious when you watch the movie but it is still a pretty good movie if you like Celine Dion.

I am a HUGE Celine Dion fan. I couldn’t help but share her songs as the 2nd post on my self-created meme every Sunday on my personal blog.
Ohhhh… hope the movie comes to Singapore…soon!
