Sariah Is Learning To Print!

For Christmas we got Sariah a Carebear Writing workbook from the dollartree. She has loved letters since she was 22 months.

She is still two so I wasn’t sure if she was too young for it but she LOVES it. For a few weeks she would trace each letter with her finger and then a couple of weeks ago I asked her if she would like to write the letters with a pen. She became very excited at that idea.

Sariah drawing zigzagsThe first section of the book has lines, zig-zags and half circles to trace. The lines were easy for her but when she got to the zig-zag it was a little more difficult. She made a little mistake and tried to rub the pen mark out with her finger, when she realized that wasn’t going to work she scribbled it. Then came the meltdown as she cried over her mistake. As you can see from the picture she did a really good job for a two and a half year old. I of course comforted her and told her that she did a great job and gave her a sticker. I tried to move her on to a different activity but she wanted to keep writing.

DShe has now traced all the dotted letters in the book. I guess I’ll have to make more dotted letters to fill up the rest of the lines because she thinks she is done with the book now! We are so proud of her! Soon she will be writing her own name! Sariah tries to teach Rebekah letters which is so cute. Rebekah always makes up a letter which is good because they are actually letters just not the one she is pointing too. Sariah then corrects her and Rebekah repeats the correct letter. I tried to videotape it but they wouldn’t do it for the camera. It was cute!
