I couldn't agree more. Everyone deserves respect. You don't have to be president to be respected. You just have to be human. I'm SO tired of all the negativity. He won the election. He's our president now. People need to stop the bitterness and move on. I didn't agree with everything Former Pres Bush did. Likewise, I don't agree with everything President Obama says. The truth of the matter is, no one will ever agree with everything anyone says/does. It's time to come together. It's the only way to move on.

To answer SJ's question, from what I've heard people say, I think President Obama is liked by so many because people he is different. We are lucky to have jobs and a home. But there are people who are going through hardships due to the vast economic issues. So they hold on to hope that someone different will turn things around. Whether people voted for him or not, I personally think there is nothing wrong with hope. For nothing good will come from fear.

Well said, no one deserves to have shoes thrown at them, whether they are real or virtual. I watched part of Obama's speech yesterday and I really enjoyed it, he had a lot of good things to say. However, I am confused as to why people are so in love with him, especially those who aren't Americans. Is it mostly (or all) because he's the first Black president and therefore they get to wittness history?

You got that right. He doesn't deserve that and it isn't right to let people think it is ok to do stuff like that. Very disrespectful.
