Everyone knows that as of yesterday the US now has a new President. I don’t think anyone is happier that President Bush is out of the white house than President Bush himself. I was appalled that shortly after an Iraqi journalist threw a shoe at Bush, bloggers were raving about a “wonderful” internet game where they can also throw a shoe at the US President.

Now I disagree with many of the things Bush did as president but no one deserves to be treated that way. One of those things is how much the Bush administration overspent and unfortunately this is not going to improve with the Obama administration if he holds to his promise to “spend our way out of the recession” – starting with the 170 million dollar inaugaration of course.

So I already have issues with Obama and he’s only been president for one day but I’m going to respect him, not throw a virtual shoe at him.

You got that right. He doesn’t deserve that and it isn’t right to let people think it is ok to do stuff like that. Very disrespectful.

the people who created the game needs their minds checked.

no matter what Bush did wrong, US still survived, didn’t it?!

Well said, no one deserves to have shoes thrown at them, whether they are real or virtual. I watched part of Obama’s speech yesterday and I really enjoyed it, he had a lot of good things to say. However, I am confused as to why people are so in love with him, especially those who aren’t Americans. Is it mostly (or all) because he’s the first Black president and therefore they get to wittness history?

I couldn’t agree more. Everyone deserves respect. You don’t have to be president to be respected. You just have to be human. I’m SO tired of all the negativity. He won the election. He’s our president now. People need to stop the bitterness and move on. I didn’t agree with everything Former Pres Bush did. Likewise, I don’t agree with everything President Obama says. The truth of the matter is, no one will ever agree with everything anyone says/does. It’s time to come together. It’s the only way to move on.

To answer SJ’s question, from what I’ve heard people say, I think President Obama is liked by so many because people he is different. We are lucky to have jobs and a home. But there are people who are going through hardships due to the vast economic issues. So they hold on to hope that someone different will turn things around. Whether people voted for him or not, I personally think there is nothing wrong with hope. For nothing good will come from fear.
