Hoping The Flu Does Not Hit Our House

I found out yesterday that a friend of mine I visited with on Monday has the flu now so I have been very nervous about getting sick. I have been taking Iron supplements, drinking cranberry juice, staying away from the Halloween candy stash and trying to stay calm. Maybe I should try an Orovo drink as well :) I really thought the flu was starting in our home last night as Sariah threw up but she seemed totally fine afterwards so it was probably all the running around and jumping she was doing after dinner.

JJ on the other hand is just preparing himself for the flu by getting ahead on his assignments. He told me to give up trying to avoid it and accept the fact that we may all get the flu. With all the stuff he has learned about the Influenza vaccine he says it is useless to get because scientists just pick one strain of the flu virus from Europe to use for North America the following year. Likely there is more than one strain of the virus going around.

Have you heard about the tool that google is setting up to track the flu? Sounds interesting but not sure how effective it will be. Many people search for information on the flu when they don’t have it. I guess it could give the federal health department a good idea about where it may begin.

We all get the flu shot because of Maddy’s chronic breathing problems. The one time she didn’t get it, she was very ill.

I hope the flu bug skips your house. Just wait til they start school…they’ll bring home everything from the pink eye to the stomach bug. ewww…
