Last month I complained about how long it was taking to recieve the deposit back from the last apartment we lived in. Well we finally recieved it today, a check for $8.95!!!! The deposit was $500 so of course we are ticked. They took out nearly $400 for cleaning fees. What they cleaned is beyond me, that place was a lot cleaner than it was when we moved in. Also they did not detail what it was that was cleaned which landlords are supposed to do. The deposit was given to us over a month late so I hope this gives us some ability to get the rest of it back. Finding good acne treatments is a whole lot easier than finding an honest landlord.
Since we were living in student approved housing I contacted BYU about we can do. I have had several people tell me that they take complaints against the housing that they have approved for students seriously.

Oh my heck! That is INSANE! When we lived in Enterprise, AL we had to pay for a “professional” cleaners. It was in the lease. But I was not going to leave until I found out exactly how much that would be. I remember when you said the place was dirty and how you had to really scrub the place. They’re stealing your money. I would fight this one, Melissa. I would fight it, tooth and nail.

yeah thats definatly not right, I hope the school helps you out and you get your money back. BYU is built on honesty and integrity so their housing people should be held to the same standard.

At first I was cheering, then I saw $8.95!!! This is RIDICULOUS!!! took so much out of the deposit for cleaning? did they get celebrities to clean your house? If not, why does it cost SO MUCH?!
And for such a small amount, they need to take that long to issue you the cheque! *Urggghhh*
