At Least We Have A Choice

When we first moved to Utah we were pleased with how much lower the cost of food and utilities were compared to Washington State. Buying a home is cheaper in Utah than Washington but the cost of renting is similar.
Our license plates expire at the end of this month and we know that it is going to cost a lot more than it did the last time we renewed them (in Idaho). Utah requires safety and emissions inspections that we will need to pay for, I am sure the license and registration costs are a lot higher as well. Idaho was only $40 for the year.
We pay over $100 more a year on the same insurance that we had in Idaho. At least we get a choice on what insurance company we want. I am origianally from British Columbia where everyone has to have a minimum of their insurance with the provincial insurance corporation. There really is no such thing as cheap auto insurance there! Many new drivers have to pay over $300 a month until they prove that they are safe drivers and then their insurance premiums decrease each year they are accident free.

Yeah, we had to get our van and car registered here and it was like $150 each or something
Definitely miss Idaho for that! But our insurance is actually a little cheaper now.

WOW! $300 a month is insane. We pay about 1100 a year for both cars and our renters insurance.
