We just moved into our current aparment less than 3 months ago and now it is time to move again, this time into our own house (well we will own it in September)! We already have the keys but we haven’t started moving anything in yet or turned on the utilities. We still need to scrape the old popcorn texture ceilings and put new texturing up before we can move in though as popcorn texture ceilings may contain asbestos. The only furniture we have is a bed, crib, computer table and baby swing so we have been looking around for furniture. The price for furniture at thrift stores is outrageous considering the shape they are in so I am just going to stick with garage sales and classified ads.
It really is amazing the things you can find looking through the classifides like inflatable boats. The first thing we need to buy is a refridgerator then we can worry about buying more furniture later on.

You might want to see if Freecycle is in your area, there’s a lot of interesting stuff that shows up there.
Also, you can keep your eyes on your local Craigslist listings, there’s a ton of free stuff on there, and some of it is pretty good. I know someone that got a free boat from their local Craigslist, so keep your eyes peeled.

I have a couple friends in Canada who got all their furniture for free from Craigslist! The Craigslist for my area doesn’t have a lot of free stuff listed though.
