Ya know, as crazy as it sounds, my wedding dress was not all that important to me. It was beautiful, and altered to fit me perfectly, and I had the shoes I wanted (tennis shoes, glammed up by me) and the veil I wanted (one that I did myself, and the other my sister let me borrow that was hers from her wedding) and all the works. But I was so much more interested in my husband and becoming his wife, nothing else really mattered to me.

I think it would have been special if I made my own wedding dress but I only had a 2 month engagement and I was in school full time and working part time!

I didn't buy the wedding dress...it's not the culture over here, we rent 1st-hand wedding dress for photo shoots and the actual day itself. They always go by package price...usually from S$4000 to S$8000....

I remember trying on only 1 dress at a wedding shop. It was about $600 and I didn't really like it. My mom was with me and I simply asked her if she would make my dress and she agreed. I think it wound up still costing about $300, mostly because of all the lace that was on it. But I loved the dress, even more because she made it.

My sister's wedding last March wasn't a wedding...it was a social event. She was so stressed out all the time. I agree with you...I love simple weddings.
