I read Kara’s blog while she was in the process of buying her house so I was expecting it to be time consuming but it is getting a little more overwhelming than I thought it would be right now. This weekend we dropped our loan officer who was not working very well with us and with another loan officer. Obviously I am annoyed with our first loan officer because we are just a couple weeks from closing and now we have to go through the approval again but dropping him was the right thing to do because someone who is not willing to work hard for us does not deserve our money. If you live in Utah I would advice not using Gold River Mortgage.

Oh that stinks. Buying a house sure is frustrating. Too bad my friend who did our mortgage isn’t in that business anymore or I would recommend him, they worked very well with us.
Oh that stinks! I hope you have better luck with the new loan officer.
Good for you, dropping your loan officer. If your gut tells you that you shouldn’t do business with them, it’s smart to avoid doing business with them. It’s better to back out now than to find out he pulled some bad tricks with your contract at closing.
I’ve never gone through http://www.lendingtree.com, but a friend of mine did and she loved it. From what I understand, it gives your info to several companies, and they contact you, and you then choose which to go with. Of course, you have to check out the credentials of everyone, just like anything else, but you may want to give them a try.
I actually did look into Lending Tree but in order to work with any of their lenders you need to put at least 20% down and we only have enough for a 3% down payment.
So do you like your new lender? How is that going?
We like our new lender but he will not qualify us based on JJ’s gradschool stipend which is more than he currently earns so we may need a co-borrower to qualify.
