McCain’s Speech In Canada

Yesterday McCain took time off from campaigning in the US to speak at The Economic Club Of Toronto in Ottawa on trade and energy policies. Unlike earlier McCain speeches I have watched on C-Span there were no protesters disturbing his speech.

I thought McCain’s speech was very well done and may help strengthen ties of political friendship between Canada and the US. One thing that I really liked was that he thanked Canada for taking in the diverted planes and helping out the diverted passengers during the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. He also thanked Canada for it’s support in sending troops to Afghanistan and humanitarian aid to Iraq. Canadians had to wait quite awhile to get a thanks from President Bush after the terrorist attacks. I know Canadians did it because it was the right thing to do but it is still nice to hear a thank you. You can watch the rest of McCain’s speech on CNN.

I know 2 months ago I said that to me both Obama and McCain acted like snobby men who belong to a wine of the month club. But the more I learn about Obama the more I don’t like him. During the beginning of the campaigning my Mother-in-law said that Obama would be another Jimmy Carter, now it seems that a lot of people are agreeing with that. There are things I like and don’t like about McCain but I think he would be a better President. I guess all I can do is state my opinion since I can’t vote!

Did you know that the NRA has a wine of the month club? We sent an invitation to the club to a friend who is a member of PETA!
