We got the house we are moving into inspected, we used Watch Dogs Home Inspectors. I would recommend this home inspection company, the inspector was very thorough telling us everything that needed to be repaired, maintained and even made us aware of things that we may want to change. We were also emailed a detailed report of the inspection with pictures of the problem areas and links to how to repair those things. Just about all of the things are minor and the inspector says that the house is in great condition.
The two things we are going to be sure to do before we move in is remove the bedroom ceilings (which we were told may contain asbestos materials) and put up new ceiling. The current owner has done this to the rest of the house and said that he would help my husband do the bedrooms as well as other repair projects.
Next we will need to choose a company for our home insurance. I have talked with several already and it sounds like our home insurance will be around $400 a year - Utah has the second lowest home insurance rate while Idaho has the lowest. The insurance companies I have talked with so far encouraged me to buy life insurance as well so someone else wont be left with all of our mortgage if we die. This website sells cheap life insurance policies from as low as $3.27 a month.

Ain’t you glad you are in Utah? Having to save so much when it comes to house related stuff. Lucky girl you.

I am! There are not too many places where we would actually be able to afford to buy a house.
