Boating Safer

I just moved from the Olympic Peninsula area in Washington state where a popular way to make some extra income over the spring and summer is to catch crabs and oysters. This spring there were too many news stories of people involved in these activities loosing their lives due to boating accidents. Over and over again the Washington news anchors would stress the importance of using good judgement and safety practices while boating.

Many boating accidents occur when the operator is under the influence of alcohol. The statistics for Arizona Boating last year shows that there were 357 arrests, 33 accidents and 8 fatalities that resulted from people operating boats while under the influence of alcohol. To help people boat safer and smarter, the Arizona Game And Fish website is offering  Boating Education classes in various locations around Arizona as well as online.
