As a “family show” American Idol has a lot of people outraged about their Idol Give’s Back show. With a few very skits that were not very family friendly, apperances by Snoop Dog and Kobe Bryant, censoring ‘Jesus’ Out of the song ‘Shout to the Lord’ then finising the show with Ben Stiller cussing. That was bleeped out of course but everyone easily got the idea of what was going on.
Sure didn’t motivate me to give to their cause! I would also like to know if American Idol gives the proceeds from their commercial profits to the charity.
One positive thing I got from the show was how different the lives of the poor in Africa are to the poor in the United States, Canada, Britain and other ‘developed’ countries. Helping out people in developed nations is a very worthwhile cause, but compared to Africa the poor here have so many more opportunities.

Horaayy..there are 5 comment(s) for me so far ;)
Please do not use Keywords for your name.I watched the group performances on youtube and they did say Jesus in the song .. along with Shepherd, Lord and Savior … which clearly means Jesus. It was a really nice song! I have noticed more “religion” on the show.

I was only referring to the Idol Gives back show not the actual itunes download or yesterdays elimination show.

During the Idol Gives Back Show they replaced Jesus with Shepherd. Yes it does mean Jesus but the thing that annoys me is that they take Jesus out to not offend people and then have Ben stiller throwing out the F word.
During the elimination show they sang the song as it was written probably because of all the constroversy that it caused.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I didn’t actually watch most of Idol gives back or the results show so I never knew they were two different performances. Thats a good point though, why take something good out that would offend someone but throw in something bad that would also offend others.
However, I really liked that “Shout to the Lord” song!
