My Family left last night after a 4 day visit with us. I thought that they would all be staying at our home again but my dad hotel deals online as Sequim, Washington’s big tourism season starts in April. The cheapest he found was for a Ramada Inn that was under renovation so they got a great deal on their room.

Sariah loved playing her 14 year old and 8 year old Aunts. My 8 year old sister, Mikayla had a lot of fun at Sariah’s playgroup’s Easter Egg Hunt. What they did was they had plastic eggs with coins in them and the children exchanged the coins for toys, books and crayons. I thought that was a great idea. Mikayla wanted to leave on Saturday and we wondered if it was because she wanted to be home before the Easter Bunny came. My dad and I decided to run a little test to see if she did believe in the Easter Bunny. I started by telling her that the Easter Bunny told me at the playgroup that he was going to bring some special treats for Sariah and if she also stayed the Easter Bunny would have something for her as well. She just kind of nodded her head and was like Ok. My Dad followed up by asking what she thought about that and she was like that was just some guy dressed up in a grey bunny suit with his face painted grey. My Dad just replied “Ok, the Easter Bunny isn’t real then”. Mikayala quickly replied “Everyone knows the REAL Easter Bunny is white”.

Do you think 8 is too old to believe in the Easter Bunny? I stopped believing in the Easter Bunny when I was about 6.

Horaayy..there are 5 comment(s) for me so far ;)

C’mon Melissa .. of course their is an Easter Bunny. That would probably explain why you didn’t get anything.

I’ve always wondered about this. I think it comes down to when the story crosses from magical to lying. Sounds drastic, but I’ve always been afraid my kids will be angry with me for lying to them about those things. I still want them to believe, but I’m not sure how old is too old.

The thing I find interesting is that my parents are trying to help her understand that there is no Easter Bunny but she really wants to believe and she also gets very shy about it at school because she knows all the other kids her age don’t believe in the Easter Bunny.

mmm I think I was older when I stopped believing in the Easter Bunny. I think I might have been 7 or 8, I am not sure.

I just thought the Easter Bunny brought the bag of chocolates to my parents to hide after a while.

We usually went to my grandparent’s house in Chattanooga. I remember that there was always an egg hidden behind the African princess statue. (JJ knows what my grandfather called it, can’t say it here.)
