At a recent watch auction in Geneva a 1944 Patek Phillipe perpetual calendar wristwatch worn by an Indian Maharaja sold for 2.5 million swiss francs (2.2 million US), which makes it the most anyone has ever paid for a stainless steel watch. It is believed that the watch was given by the Maharaja to the man who organzied his wedding. The watch was bought by a switzerland museum.

Most new models of Patek Philippe retail for over $100,000 the reason for the high price is that it takes at least 8 months to make a single watch.
