Courtney’s Ride For The Cure

Two months ago my sister (pictured) who just turned 8 years old last week was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She is one of millions who live with diabetes and wish that someone would find a cure. Courtney is trying to something about that. Next week she will be participating in her 3rd Tour De Cure which is fundraiser to benefit the American Diabetes Association.
This is a cause that is important to Courtney as she also has diabetes, she was diagnosed when she was 11 years old and has had to overcome some challenges to be able to become as athletic as she is today. Courtney is riding 31 miles and is donating each mile to someone who has diabetes, little Mikayla is one of those 31 people! Rose,
It saddened my heart when Melissa mentioned that Mikayla had gotten diabetes. 7 years old. I thought it was bad when I got it at age 11. But Melissa says she’s got a great attitude about it and that’s encouraging, because it took me 15 years to get a decent attitude about it. But now I’m doing something, and while I’m out there riding my bike, I might as well be riding for other people as well.

What a great idea and look how adorable Mikayla is in that picture. It’s true Miky has such a great attitude and is a great inspiration to me.
