Did anyone else watch the Oprah special called “Building a Dream”?

It was about the school that she built in South Africa that will allow over 100 under girls to recieve a good education. These girls live in poverty and have been through far worse than most of us have been through. I thought that this documentary was so inspiring and I hope that teachers and parents will take the time to show their children this documentary. Many children in western countries don’t value their education as much as they should, I hope this documentary will help them to be more greatful for what they have.

Oprah and the Angel Network is working towards building more schools to educate impoverished women and children around the world. To find out more about the school in Africa and how you can help with building more schools go here.

Horaayy..there are 4 comment(s) for me so far ;)

I never watched but I read about it and i think it is really great that Oprah is doing this and giving these girls opportunities that they wouldn’t otherwise have. I really love that Oprah uses her resources to do so much good and give back to the community (internationaly!).

I agree, she got a lot of negative press about building a school in Africa instead of the US. It’s her organization and I’m sure they need it, and would appreciate it more. Here the government builds the schools, in africa people need to pay to go to school.

I heard that Oprah decided not to build a school in the USA because American kids did not seem to care about education, especially in the inner cities. I read that in a John Stossel book. The kids in Africa appreciate what Oprah is doing and education means more to them.

Whether she builds it here, in Africa, or on the Moon, there will always be people who object.

I think what she’s doing is wonderful. We need more people like that.
