Make Your Own Prenatal Shake

I have a hard time swallowing pills. As I am pregnant and nursing at the same time I know I should be taking my prenatal pills to make sure I’m getting the nutrients I need. What I do is I crush the pills up in my pill crusher and put it into a smoothie or milkshake. This is a lot cheaper than buying those prenatal shakes. The Pill crushers are available at many dollar trees for only a dollar and they crush pills up into a powder.

I have some delicious drink recipes on my recipe blog. I will be adding more soon.

It doesn’t help that most prenates are gigantic uncoated blobs of funny smelling vitamin!! You’re a brave girl crushing that sucker up to take it. Might be worth trying liquid vitamin though, I think when you’re pregnant and/or nursing you have to increase the dosage, but liquid vitamin is way easier to take and doesn’t have all the yucky plant filler.

I have never heard of a liquid prenatal vitamin, I’ll have to look into that, thanks! Yes the vitamins do taste awful but when I mix them with a great tasting milkshake or smoothie I can’t taste them.

I can’t swallow my prenatals either. I am now taking a Flinstone vitamin with my daughter. Chewable and they taste good.

Yes! Flinstone all the way! I couldn’t take my prenatals because of the morning sickness so my OB said I can take 2 Flinstones.

I love flinstones vitamins! I remember when my dad used to give all his kids one and then he would take two for himself.

I’m not pregnant (nor do I expect to ever be…) but I take a daily multivitamin that is huge. I’ve been breaking it up, but even then it sometimes gets stuck in my throat. Thanks for the tip about pill crushers at the dollar store. I’ll have to get one.
